Purely belter

We were discussing at lunch whether there have been any really good football films.  Escape to Victory?  Surely not.  Anyway, here was my suggestion: Purely Belter.  Perhaps it works because it doesn't make the mistake of including choreographed football in it, but it's still a football film without doubt.

At the risk of not sounding like a purist, I especially like "Bend it like Beckham". In particular, I have two little girls (ages 7 and 4) and I want them to grow up thinking that football is a sport for them. So, yes, it may not have the greatest football footage; however, I appreciate the focus on women's football and the struggle to play in the face of cultural opposition. Love of the game is, after all, a key aspect of the sport, is it not?
